Do you experience urine leakage with a strong and sudden urge and you leak before reaching the toilet? You may be eligible to participate in this important study if you are female and 21 years of age or older, if you are experiencing urine leakage with the feeling of urgency, coughing, sneezing, or laughing. Do you experience accidental bowel leakage? You may qualify for a bowel leakage research study if you are female, 18 years or older, and have had accidental bowel leakage for at least 6 months. For more information contact 205-934-5498. Compensation is provided.

You may be eligible to participate in the UAB’s Cardiovascular Research Biobank (CARBON), a repository of biological samples that will be used for future research about heart disease, diabetes, genomics, and more. Participants must be over the age of 18. The study will require one brief visit to UAB and collection of blood samples. Participants will be compensated. The UAB Epilepsy Center is looking for participants aged 15 and older for a brain imaging study. Eligible individuals will have psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) without co-morbid epilepsy. The study involves one visit at UAB Highlands Hospital and will last up to 2.5 hours. Participants will undergo a brain MRI, complete questionnaires, and provide a small amount of blood. Are you interested in managing your weight? Men and women age 19-75 whose body mass index (BMI) range from 30-50 are needed for SWOP, a two-year study investigating the effects of daily self-weighing. Some participants will be asked to weigh themselves daily for two years using the study-provided scale that will pair with the participant's own smartphone. All participants will be asked to complete brief visits at UAB every 6 months (a total of five visits). Compensation provided. Participants must be under the care of a primary care doctor, have steady Wi-Fi at home, and live within 50 miles of UAB campus. Call 205-996-SWOP or email SWOP@uabmc.edu to find out if you qualify.

Do you have pain in one or both of your knees on most days? If so, you may qualify for a research study being conducted at the University of Alabama Birmingham. We are seeking people between 45 and 85 years of age to participate in a study of brain and breathing treatments for arthritis pain. The study involves seven visits over a three-week period to the study center at the University of Alabama Birmingham, where clinical tests and brain stimulation treatment will be done, along with brain scanning.
