Blazer Boosters has provided an update on financial commitments to support UAB Football, Bowling and Rifle and the coming UAB Athletics campaign.
As reported earlier, campaign chair Hatton Smith will work with other members of the committee and community leaders to raise private support for UAB sports programs and facilities. The goal is to publicly announce the complete UAB Athletics campaign committee by Aug. 1 and begin the public phase of the campaign shortly thereafter. At that time, monthly updates on fundraising progress will be provided.
“We encourage members of this community to maintain their enthusiasm and invest the financial support necessary to build athletic programs that consistently generate proud moments for both UAB and the city of Birmingham,” said Smith, CEO emeritus of Royal Cup Coffee and Tea.
Season ticket sales continue
Meanwhile, UAB Football season tickets can be secured online for a non-refundable deposit of $25 each. When the official season is announced and other details are finalized, buyers will be invoiced for the balance per ticket reserved, said Brad Hardekopf, associate athletic director for development.
Supporters who placed deposits through the UAB Football Foundation do not need to re-enroll on the UAB Athletics site. Those deposits will be transferred to UAB Athletics Ticket Office, and an email will be sent to confirm orders by July 15.
Pledges are being processed
“Competitive collegiate football in Birmingham is desired, and we must continue to demonstrate that the outpouring of support for UAB Athletics is here to stay,” Hardekopf said. He offered these answers to questions about pledges and pledging:
- Members who have already contributed will receive fully executed pledge agreements for UAB Athletics — and specifically the football, bowling, and rifle programs — this month.
- Pledge reminders will be sent through UAB Gift Records by June 30 to donors who did not indicate a specific initial payment date. Donors are encouraged to make their first payment before Sept. 1.
- Donors are welcome to adjust their pledge payments for an earlier date, but the reminder will correlate to the date indicated on their individual pledge agreement.
