    Freshman


    • Complete the Online Orientation course in Canvas no less than 1 day prior to orientation. You won’t be able to register for classes unless you completed it no later than the day before your orientation date. You’ll get access to the Canvas course 7 days before your orientation date – we’ll email you when your access begins.
    • Get the links for your orientation-day Zoom meetings – they’ll be emailed to you 7 days before your orientation date.
    • Check your UAB email as your advisor will contact you through that account only. Your advisor will reach out to you about their plans for guiding you in class selection and creating a degree plan. Expect to hear from your advisor via email prior to your scheduled orientation date.
    • Take the Math Placement Assessment no less than 1 week prior to orientation. (click on the link to the Math Placement Test within BlazerNET). You are required to take the assessment unless you are transferring in a college-level math course from a post-secondary institution (excludes remedial college math and Finite Mathematics) with a grade of "C" or better, you have earned college-level math credit for qualifying AP, IB, AICE, or CLEP scores, or you are an incoming first-time freshman with a minimum ACT math sub-score of 29 or SAT math score of 680.     • Send AP/IB scores to UAB.
    • Submit a photo for your ONE Card prior to your orientation date.
    • Activate your BlazerID by clicking "Activate Accounts" on the left-hand menu, logging in, and clicking "Activate!"
    • Change your major at least 1 week before your orientation (if necessary).
    • Get your questions answered with our Orientation FAQ's.
    • Review a comprehensive checklist for accepted students.

  • Transfer and Non-Traditional Freshman


    • Complete the Online Orientation course in Canvas no less than 1 day prior to orientation. You won’t be able to register for classes unless you completed it no later than the day before your orientation date. Log in to BlazerNET and select Canvas from the right-hand menu. (Summer/Fall Students Only)
    • Get the links for your orientation-day Zoom meetings – they’ll be emailed to you 7 days before your orientation date.
    • Check your UAB email as your advisor will contact you through that account only. Your advisor will reach out to you about their plans for guiding you in class selection and creating a degree plan. Expect to hear from your advisor via email prior to your scheduled orientation date.
