  • Pool Parties

    The Aquatic Center at the UAB Recreation Center is available to celebrate your child's birthday party, team gathering or other event. The base cost of the pool party package, $380.00, includes two hours exclusive use of our Wet Classroom, shared usage of the leisure pool, access to locker rooms and one lifeguard. This rate admits up to 30 active participants (pool users).

    • Additional participants will be admitted at $8 per person.
    • Party setup may begin as early as 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time and cleanup must commence within 30 minutes of party's scheduled end time.
    • Children must use appropriate gender locker room or family locker rooms.
    • All guests of the party and all participants are required to attend the five minute informational rules and regulation pre-party meeting with the Aquatic Supervisor before being admitted into the water.
    • All food must be consumed AFTER water activities have commenced.
    • Groups must follow all policies and procedures of the Department of University Recreation.

  • Pool Party Policies

    All patrons participating in a swim party or rental of the Aquatic Facility must be informed of and adhere to the following policies. Adherence to these policies will make their experience safe and enjoyable.

    1.   An Aquatic Supervisor will complete a short pool rules review with participants at the start of the event
    2.   Participants must shower before entering the pool
    3.   Participants must be respectful of others in the pool
    4.   When the whistle blows, participants must listen to the Lifeguards
    5.   There is NO
      • Diving off the sides
      • Running on deck
      • Horseplay or wrestling (which includes dunking each other)
      • Climbing and standing on any of the barriers
      • Hanging on the Spa walls
      • Food or gum allowed in the pool area. All food must remain inside the Wet Classroom
    6.   Pool Area and Use
      • Participants unable to touch the bottom of the pool in an upright position and/or who display continued difficulty swimming, may be asked to wear a life jacket
      • Participants have access to shared use of the lazy river, lagoon, vortex, leisure swimming areas, and wet classroom.
      • Lap lanes and the Spa are unavailable to rental and party participants
      • Participants may re-enter the pool 30 minutes after eating
    7.   Toys are allowed as long as they do not interfere with other patrons
      • Toys are not allowed in the Vortex
      • Prohibited items include water guns and mermaid tails
    8.   Vortex
      • Only 6 people in vortex at a time
      • No floatation devices allowed except lifejackets
      • Failure to follow rules will result in vortex being turned off
      • If it is needed and the staff is available, one guard may be placed in the water to assist young children entering and exiting the vortex
    9.   River
      • One inner tube per person
      • Inner tubes may be in the river and bubble couch area, but may not be in the vortex, lane lines, or Spa.
      • If a child has to be rescued from the current in the river they will be asked to wear a lifejacket
      • The river may be too strong for groups of young children.
      • The Aquatic Supervisor may determine for the safety of the group that the river will need to be turned off unless there is an adult chaperone in the water at the mouth of the river to assist those having difficulties
