With the Bucks for Books program, students with extra federal financial aid (awards made by filling out FAFSA) can opt-in to this program so they can access those funds to purchase books prior to the start of classes for fall and spring semesters (funds are not available for summer terms).

If you are a student who has an account credit of $50 or more due to an excess in anticipated federal Financial Aid, these funds – up to $1000 – can be transferred to your BlazerBucks account.

These BlazerBucks will be available by noon on the Wednesday before classes start so that you may purchase books before classes begin. Students may use the funds at the UAB Barnes & Noble Bookstore.

If you choose not to participate in the Bucks For Books program, your excess aid will be disbursed to you in the form of a check or direct deposit during the first week of classes. If you feel as though you will need those funds to purchase books before classes begin, be sure to opt-in prior to the week before classes start.
