Gordon Fisher, PhD, FACSM, was announced as the President of the Southeast Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (SEACSM) at the Southeast Chapter’s 2026 Annual Meeting, which will be held from February 26th to 28th, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Greenville in Greenville, South Carolina. Fisher will serve a three-year term during which he will oversee the organization of the 2027 SEACSM Annual Meeting, which will also be held in Greenville, South Carolina.
In addition to his role as President of the SEACSM, Fisher, PhD, FACSM, has been appointed to serve on the Basic and Applied Science Board of Trustees for the National Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
Cody Morris, PhD, recently completed his first full year as a Member-at-Large on the Executive Board of SEACSM. During his tenure, he has been responsible for coordinating all abstract submissions, reviews, and presentation organization for the annual meeting. Furthermore, he has been tasked with organizing all audio-visual assignments for the event.
During the annual meeting, several faculty and students presented remarkable research findings. Cedric Edoh, a former master’s student, presented Dr. Fisher with “The Acute Effects of Aerobic and Isometric Exercise for Improving Blood Pressure in Hypertensive Adults.” The co-authors on this presentation include Clayton Rich, Demetrius Witt, Eric Judd, M.D., Fernando Ovalle, M.D., and Gordon Fisher, Ph.D. Savannah Lassey presented her research on “Tracking Pitch Horizontal Break Over a Full Season As a Means of Predicting Injury Risk in NCAA D1 Baseball Pitchers.” The co-authors on this presentation are Abby Brown, Thomas Rohling, Kade Smith, and Cody Morris. Abby Brown presented her research on “Tracking Countermovement Jump Asymmetries Over a Full Season Between Right- and Left-handed D1 NCAA Baseball Pitchers.” The co-authors on this presentation are Savannah Lassey, Thomas Rohling, Kade Smith, and Cody Morris.
