The UAB Collat School of Business online master’s in business administration (MBA) program is a flexible 36-hour master’s degree, concentrating on decision-making skills and the complex problems facing business leaders today. Designed for the busy working professional, students can customize the program and specialize in areas such as finance, marketing and health care.

Online MBA Courses and Program Requirements

The MBA program is offered fully online. Most students can complete the degree requirements within one year attending full time or two years attending part time.

Online MBA Application Requirements

Applicants are required to have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0.
  • 3-5+ years of professional experience preferred.
  • Quantitative Requirement: A free, self-paced quantitative tutorial and quiz is provided online for admitted students. This must be successfully completed before the start of a student's first term. Students can enroll in the quantitative proficiency quiz after registering for their first term.

Documents

No GMAT/GRE score is required.  However, students who need to strengthen their application may consider submitting a GMAT score of 500 or higher.  Documents needed to apply for admission include:

  • Kira Talent Assessment*

* Once your application is moved to "Under Review," you will receive an email link to access the Kira platform. This talent assessment consists of five questions, four requiring video responses and one requiring a written response. This assessment takes the place of an in-person interview and allows the admission committee to meet you virtually and evaluate your personal qualities, soft skills, and characteristics for fit with our program.

International Applicants Only: Additional Requirements

  • TOEFL IBT score of 80 (minimum of 18 in each subscore) or IELTS of 6.5 (minimum of 6.0 in each subscore) or Duolingo composite score of 120 (minimum of 100 in all subsections and at least 110 in two subsections).
  • Application is required at least six months in advance of the deadline to ensure time for transcript evaluation and processing of all Visa paperwork.

  • I have a busy work and family life and may not be able to attend scheduled online classes each week. Can UAB’s MBA program accommodate that?

    Yes, UAB’s online MBA program offers a fully online, on-demand learning environment. This means there is no specific time when you need to be online. You can complete your weekly assignments on your schedule from the comfort of your home or workplace. Courses are available 24 hours a day and there are no mandatory site visits or campus classes to attend.

  • What should I look for in an online program?

    Overall, it is highly recommended to pursue an online Master in Business Administration (MBA) program that features ample experience delivering online learning, AACSB-accreditation, a dedicated full-time faculty, a high level of student satisfaction, and a low rate of student attrition.   • Will my diploma say "online?”

    No. Your MBA diploma will not distinguish that you are a distance student in our online program. You can be confident that UAB’s standards of excellence are the same for on-campus and online programs. Online students, if they wish, attend the same graduation ceremony as on-campus students.

  • How long will it take to earn my Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree?

    Students can complete their master’s in business administration (36 credit hours) in as few as three semesters attending full-time or as few as six semesters attending part-time.
