UAB’s Collegiate Licensing Program is centrally managed within the Office of Marketing and Communications in collaboration with CLC, the nation’s premier collegiate licensing company. This program safeguards authorized use of UAB’s registered trademarks, strengthens and protects the university’s brand, and ensures the availability of high‑quality, officially licensed merchandise. Revenue generated through royalties from licensed product sales directly supports the institution.

Apply for a License

Vendors seeking to produce merchandise featuring UAB trademarks must first obtain a license through CLC, UAB’s licensing partner. A license is required for all uses—including items created for internal university purposes, even if they are not intended for resale. CLC manages the application process for university review and oversees the collection of royalties. Explore the license types below to find the option that best fits your needs.

Corporate Responsibility

UAB is dedicated to ensuring that its licensed merchandise is sourced and manufactured responsibly. In partnership with CLC, every licensee agrees to a code of conduct as part of their licensing agreement. This code safeguards workers’ rights and addresses critical standards such as fair overtime compensation, the prohibition of child labor, workplace health and safety, and more.

To maintain compliance, UAB licensees must complete an annual Corporate Responsibility Questionnaire (CRQ) prior to renewal and keep supply chain disclosures current, providing UAB with visibility into the manufacturers, suppliers, and factories involved in producing licensed products. In addition, most UAB licensees are affiliated with the Fair Labor Association (FLA), an organization committed to improving working conditions for those who create branded merchandise.
