UAB is home to a wide range of registered student organizations (RSOs), including fraternaties & sororities, university-funded groups, and club sports. To ensure clear representation and support the university’s brand, all RSOs are required to follow brand guidelines outlined below.
Registered Student Organizations (RSOs)
Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) are clubs created by students that are supported by a faculty/staff advisor and student governance. RSOs may not use UAB logos and should create their own unique visual identity. To align with Student Organization Registration Policy, RSOs may present as “[insert organization name] at UAB®.” Note the registration mark ® must appear after writing “UAB” in text. RSOs that need assistance developing their own visual identity may contact

Fraternity & Sorority Life
Like RSOs, fraternities and sororities may not use UAB logos and should use their existing sorority or fraternity mark as a visual identity.

University Funded Organizations (UFOs)
University Funded Organizations (UFOs) are directly advised and financially supported by a University department or division. Because UFOs are extensions of the University, they should be presented with the monogram to align with the University brand. Contact

Club Sports
Club Sports are RSOs that have been approved by University Recreation as a competitive club sport organization. Because Club Sports often compete in regional and national competitions, it is appropriate to pair the Primary Athletics Logo with the club sport name written in Aktiv Grotesk (bold). To avoid confusion with official UAB Athletics, metallic treatments are not allowed, and “Club” must always precede the sport name. As an alternative, Club Sports may also create their own unique visual identity and present as “[club sports name] at UAB®.” Note the registration mark ® must appear after writing “UAB” in text.
