Podcast Cover Art
Only official institutional podcasts managed by UAB may feature UAB branding. UAB podcast cover art should prominently feature the monogram and incorporate official colors.

-
Promotional Items and Apparel
Branded promotional items and apparel should be considered walking advertisements for the institution that are seen widely by people who may not be familiar with UAB. To grow UAB’s brand and reputation and to align with our core-forward approach, these items should feature the core university logo or monogram instead of lockups or shortcuts.
However, lockups or shortcuts are acceptable when recruiting or raising awareness for specific programs and units and the services they provide.
When purchasing branded apparel or promotional items, keep these best practices in mind:
- Choose quality over quantity to keep items out of landfills (a.k.a. “brandfill”).
- Avoid large, multi-color designs on shirts — they can feel heavy and plasticky on fabric.
- Stick to fabric colors that closely match UAB Green or UAB Gold.

-
Custom Designs
There is flexibility to create fun, custom designs for large imprint spaces on t-shirts and other promotional items. To maintain core-forward branding, the monogram must remain a prominent and highly visible feature of the design. Non-essential portions of official unit names (Office of, Department of, etc.) may be omitted to accommodate custom designs (“UAB Department of Anthropology” may be condensed to “UAB Anthropology”).
