All UAB units ordering promotional items (e.g. pens, tote bags, mugs, etc.) or apparel with UAB (state) funds are required to order from a University Purchasing-approved vendor and obtain approval from the Office of Marketing and Communications prior to completing an order. This is required regardless of whether or not UAB trademarks are displayed on the promo items or apparel.

Ordering Process & Vendors
Step 1: Select an Approved Vendor
All promo items and apparel purchased using UAB (state) funds must be sourced from a University Purchasing-approved vendor. These approved vendors are also CLC licensed to produce UAB trademarks. If non-UAB (non-state) funds are being used to purchase promo items and apparel that feature UAB trademarks, you may use any vendor that’s currently CLC licensed for UAB.

Step 2: Obtain Cost Estimate + Art Proof
Obtain a cost estimate and a vendor-provided art proof that adhere’s to UAB’s brand guidelines.
Step 3: Submit a Marketing Approval Form
Submit a Marketing Approval Form before proceeding with the vendor. You will be required to upload a PDF of the vendor-provided art proof, as well as details regarding cost, quantity, and purpose. Marketing approval is required regardless of whether or not UAB trademarks are displayed on the promo items or apparel.

Step 4: Marketing Review and Approval
All submissions are reviewed by the Office of Marketing and Communications to ensure:
- Use of approved and licensed vendors
- Appropriate use of UAB trademarks and brand
- Compliance with legal guidelines

Blaze Stress Ball
UAB partnered with Taylor Communications to design a custom stress ball modeled after our mascot Blaze. The figure is 4.5” tall by 3” wide and can accommodate customization on the belly. A minimum quantity of 2,000 is required, and production and ship time can take around 20 weeks. Name Badges
Name badges are an important aspect of promoting identity. They are used to identify individuals connected with the university, particularly for business purposes such as recruitment or customer service activities. A standard name badge using the official full UAB logo is available for UAB departments.

Podium Drapes
In order to ensure consistency for various units at events, order the standardized podium drape that's color matched in UAB Green from Taylor. One version allows school / college / unit name to be added in text and another version features the core university logo alone.

Tablecloths
Core university logos, lockups, or shortcuts are all acceptable for tablecloths. For off-campus events, a lockup is strongly recommended. All new branded tablecloths are color-matched to UAB Green and can be ordered from Taylor through BuyUAB.

A UAB license plate shows pride for your alma mater and your commitment to UAB students. The proceeds from every sale or renewal of this license plate directly fund the License to Learn Scholarships that are awarded each year by the UAB National Alumni Society.The UAB National Alumni Society is proud to partner with our schools and colleges in raising over one million dollars from alumni to provide student scholarships.
The tax-deductible UAB license plate costs just $50 more than a regular tag, and $42.50 goes directly to students in need. They're available in standard alphanumeric formats and can also be personalized.
